About Echoes From The Pit

Welcome to the story behind Echoes From The Pit, a project born from a desire to preserve and celebrate Ottawa's vibrant music history. Discover our mission, our inspiration, and what makes us tick. Our aim is for you to stay updated on the book's release and the release party, featuring live performances by bands from the book.

The book reflects who we all are...

Echoes from the Pit tell the story of a heavy metal scene built from nothing - and the people who are still connected by it decades later.

The Inspiration

Echoes From The Pit was inspired by a desire to capture the great memories of a unique era and cement the legacy of Ottawa's musicians in music history. We aim to document these stories before they disappear and are forgotten. With many featured individuals no longer with us, preserving their stories became a race against time.

The Book Release Party

April 24th, 2026 was an epic night, where 200 metalheads gathered at the iconic Rainbow in the heart of Ottawa's market. Shunt opened the night with a fantastic, energetic set, followed by Faulkwolf, Loxley, Infrared, Galleon. To top off the evening, after 40 years since their last Ottawa live show, Witchkiller provided a historic return to the stage.

"Echoes From The Pit is a fantastic project that captures the heart and soul of Ottawa's music scene. A must-read for anyone interested in music history!"
